I had seen around the blogosphere that some people were using a mixture of dishwashing liquid and vinegar to get their tubs clean. I decided to try it. And boy does it work! Here's what you do:
1/2 cup Dawn dishwashing liquid
1/2 cup white vinegar
Put the above mixture into a spray bottle and spray down your tub/shower. Let it sit for an hour (I couldn't wait and only waited about 20 minutes) and then wipe off with a damp cleaning rag. It takes off any soap scum and hard water stains. I have to admit though if you have breathing problems you do NOT want to use this as it is very strong smelling. I turned on my bathroom vent for about an hour afterwards just to clear the air but it does work and is a lot cheaper to use than the bathroom cleaners I have tried in the past which did not work so give it a try and let me know what you think of this.
PS: Make sure you wipe your tub/shower down with water several times as this mixture can be slippery. Be clean but also be safe :)

New cleaning tip
DH came up with this one all on his own! We use big glass gallon jars with the small necks for our milk but this tip will work for any jars you might have. He wanted to use one of the gallon jars but it had mold on the bottom and we had no way of getting that mold out until...he used this solution:
1/2 cup baking soda (he used a funnel to get it in the jar)
1/2 cup white vinegar
Just put the lid on and shake. The mixture fizzes up and does a wonderful job of getting out any yuckies in the bottom of the jar. Then just rinse out and flip the jar upside down to dry.
This worked great and it means we won't be throwing out any more small necked gallon jugs. It also gets off the dried milk that seems to form just under the curved edge of the jug.

Cleaning tip
If you use like I do those mesh screens on your sink drain, here is how to clean them.
Use an old toothbrush! It is fast and easy and keeps all the gunk from gumming up the screening. Just use hot water and scrub away.

Gross just gross...
I think I found the grossest thing. I couldnt understand why our garbage can was smelling soooo bad. It is stainless steel with a plastic liner and I use garbage bags in it all the time. So yesterday I decided to get to the bottom of the smell. I pulled out the garbage bag and took that liner over to wear I could see it (it's black and hard to see to the bottom of it). I dont know what was there but it STUNK bad. So I took it outside and sprayed it out. All that stink was from...wait for it...an old chicken wing bone...ewww. It looked kind of like an old mummy, a stinky wet old mummy. I let the liner sit with water in it to soak overnight and this morning it smelled so good. Course anything would smell good after that.
The things you find when you look...LOL.
I need to put the garbage can on a regular cleaning schedule...

More new pics!
Ok first things first.
CLEANING TIP: The first pic shows my stainless steel sink. The bowl on the left I cleaned with Borax and the one on the right shows how stained it was. Pretty disgusting I know but its a good cleaning tip and I didn't have to scrub that hard. It looks like a brand new sink. I have tried Borax on the bathtub as well and it gets all the soap scum off.

The grapes in June.

These tigerlilies started to bloom. I thought they were dead. We planted them 2-3 years ago.

Here's my glads. I must have at least 8 of them blooming right now.

I planted some bulbs a year ago and thought they were not going to come up but they did. Don't ask me what this is though. Some type of lillies.

Here is Roxy and Penny playing in the kitchen. Ain't they cute?

First batch of blueberries. I put a nickel in the bucket so you could see how big they are.

and finally here is potato leek soup I made on 6/9. It was so good but I need to cut the recipe in half next time. We were eating this for three days straight and I even was eating it for lunch. Love the soup but not that much :)
