Friends and good times.

I went out last week to a new Indian restaurant with my friend Kathy.  It was wonderful.  Such a good buffet and the company was great as well.  Kathy invited me to her house for Christmas.  She told me not to bring anything.   Wellllll I really think I should so I got her grandkids some little things to play with.  Ha, she can't say anything about that, right?

On Sunday evening I was invited to a Christmas program at the church I used to go to (I'm going to try to go occasionally there but it's 20-25 minutes away from my house).  It was a very talented pianist.  He teaches music at the local college and he is sooooo good.  He did an hour of music and history behind the Christmas songs he played. It was very interesting and entertaining.  The preacher called out Encore, Encore!  He didn't have anything planned so he played an 80's song and worked up a real sweat doing it.

Today I went and took out my friend, Tammy, for her birthday.  I got her a present and she got all choked up.  She said most of the time everyone forgets since her birthday is so close to the holidays.  We went to the Yellow Deli in Pulaski.  If you have one of these restaurants in your area, you have to go.  It's delicious.  They serve just soup, salad and sandwiches.  Reasonably priced and big portions.  We even went shopping afterwards to Regenerations just down the street.  It has antiques and crafts.  I bought a couple of brooches.  We had a good time but Tammy's foot was starting to bother her (she had it operated on last week) and I had to get back to work so we called it a day.

Have you been getting out of the house to enjoy family and friends?  I hope so.  It's important.  Life is short, enjoy it while you can!

PS:  Oh yeah I started exercising today.  Let's see how long this lasts.

An actual written post!

Thursday I went out with my friend, Kathy, her daughter and granddaughter for lunch.  We went to 88 Buffet on University Drive.  We got there at 11 which was great because just a half an hour later there was a line all the way outside to get in!  It was a very good buffet with lots of different dishes and the price was really good.  For the three of us (the granddaughter is under 2) it was only $22 and I had gotten a sweet tea so it would have only been $21 plus tax.  No wonder there were so many people there.  After we were done we went over to the new Joann's Fabric store.  It's been open only for two weeks.  Of course we said we werent going to get anything.  You know how that went...we each bought something.  Going out to lunch with friends can be very expensive sometimes LOL.  No I really didnt spend that much.  I just got a few small items and a magazine.  When I got home I signed up for Joanns flyer so should be receiving the sales flyers regularly now.

On Friday evening, hubby and I went to Publix.  I've been coupon cutting lately and actually with all their buy one get one free things plus my coupons we got out of there under $120 which was pretty good.  I saved about $30 with my coupons.  I would love to be one of those coupon cutters who can go in and get a carload of groceries and only pay the tax.  I wanted to go to CVS but hubby was tired and cranky (he worked 8 hours and shopping is not his favorite thing to do) and he just wanted to go home and eat his sandwich.

Today I went to CVS.  Most of the things I was going to get were sold out.  So next time if there is something I really want I need to get my butt in there the first of the week when the sale starts.  I used my extrabucks up though and only spent $4 for my bag of stuff.  I was pleased anyway.  I also stopped at a new thrift store that just opened a couple of months ago.  I got a little crock for $5.  It was cute and who couldnt find a use for a crock?  Tonight we are going to eat leftover sandwiches for supper.  We always get a full hoagie and then half it and eat one half the first night and either eat the remaining sandwich for lunch the next day or for supper.

I'll have to take a pic of my crock so you can see it.

Talk to ya later!

Well I'm back again! Miss me? course ya did! Yesterday I went out for lunch with some of my buds. We went to a Greek restaurant and it was very good food and the company was wonderful. We are going to try to get together in March again.

After lunch I went with my friend Kathy to get some baby clothes at consignment yard sale type thingy. They had anything you might need for babies and toddlers. I helped her pick out some great clothes for her grandbaby. I have posted a picture before of Megan on here see below. It was fun looking at all the little bitty clothes and was especially great since I wasn't spending any of my money to do it :) lol.

After we were done Kathy dropped me off at my car and on the way home I stopped at Big Lots. They had some Looza juice so I got some of that. You never know what you are going to find when you go in.

I have taken some new photos. I think I am finally getting the hang of the digital camera although you have to forgive some of the pics as we are having overcast weather here. Today it has been raining. I went down to get the mail and pick up my morning paper and yes the paper was soaked again. The plastic they have covering it always seems to leak. Anyway here are some pics.

The first one is of an African violet I got for cheap at Home Depot. It is different from my other one that I have. Can't have too many plants. Well maybe if there is nowhere to sit or stand you should back off on the plants but other than that...

The next two are of our seedlings. These have gotten big enough to be out of the little domed house they were in and be put out on the windowsill in our kitchen. We just got another set of seed pellets so another 72 seedlings!

Here are two pics of a little beaded purse I did some time ago. As you can see it needs finished with a lining and a cord handle. It is beaded with delicas.

Here is a pic of the socks I did for myself. These were the first pair of lacy ones I did. The picture isn't true to the colors though sorry about that. They are blue, gray and white Opal. They have been very long wearing and although I wasnt too crazy about the color after I was finished I just love them. They go with a lot of different colors.

This is a pair I started for myself but found the pattern did not stretch enough for my fat ankles :( so my husband said that he would wear them. He has such little chicken legs...lol and loves bright colors. I need to get a pic on here of him wearing the hat I made him. He even went to the yarn store and picked out the colors.

These are some of his purple socks. They are very soft.

These are his blue multi-striped ones.

And these are the austermann ones that I call his autumn socks. Love those fall colors.

And this is the last photo for today. This is a little MP3 player sock I made out of some sock remnants. It is a very soft blue varigated. It even has a little pocket for the earphones. I need to put a cord on it but it works quite well protecting it and the cords from curious kitties.

Well that's all for now hope to have more later this next week to talk about.

Looks like it's going to rain

I'm back! Sorry for the intermission. I went to lunch on Wednesday with my friend Kathy at the Indian restaurant. The food was sooooo good! We talked and talked. We got there about 11 and didnt leave until 1. I think the waitress really thought we werent going to leave :) She kept coming around asking us if we needed more drinks. We're thinking about meeting up (me and Kathy not the waitress lol) at the library once a week or so and bringing stuff to do and show each other our completed projects. Kathy thinks I should teach other people to knit. Not sure about that though. I'm not very patient and would probably bite the person's head off if they just werent getting it. Anyway after our lunch I went to Hobby Lobby (of course) and bought some baby yarn for a gift for Kathy's daughter who is due in April/May. It's really pretty - white with green, pink and tan flecks. I made her other daughter a little cardigan with cables down the front before. See how cute she looks in it!
I dont like to repeat patterns so will have to look for another one to make the next sweater.
After leaving Hobby Lobby I stopped at the local farmer's market cause my husband wanted some pecans. Good year for pecans down here, conditions were just right. I stopped but they werent open for business although the door was unlocked. The owner said he might have some next week for me though and to stop either Monday or Tuesday and he would have some for me. My husband was very disappointed...but I'll go on Tuesday and hopefully pick some up.
Didnt do much yesterday but work. We did go to the Dollar Store and I picked up a couple of movies there. We watched Iron Man again last night. I really like that film. I've noticed that a lot of films are taking themselves way too seriously and they leave out the fun. Hey if I want to be depressed I'll just read the newspaper or turn on the news on TV. I dont really want to pay for it. My husband picked up two awful movies. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT watch the Love Guru. We watched about 10-15 minutes of it and just couldnt stand it. What was Mike Myers thinking? And all the other cameo appearances with stars, I hope they got paid really well for that fiasco...yuck and double yuck, not yuk, yuk, yuk if you know what I mean. The other movie he got was Miami Vice. I warned him that it wasnt like the TV version. It was very dark and he turned it off after about a half hour. He said "I cant hear what that one guy is saying he's just mumbling" I would have to agree I mean Colin Farrell is probably a very good actor (although I dont recall anything else that I've seen with him in) but the man needs to speak up! Anyway those two movies are getting donated to charity.
Pet Peeve: Why are commercials so loud while the movies, series, etc are all the normal volume? Do they think if they turn up the volume on the commercials we'll buy more?
Signing out for now - later!
